1st Covers Trading Cards II - The Thanos Quest

About the Set: The cards feature cover-images. A simple, but nice concept.
Marvel Series 2 - Super-Villains: Thanos
Date: 1991
Card Company: Impel
Card Number: 85
Artist: Arthur Adams
About the Set: A big improvement over the innaugural series. They started to get higher-profile artists working on this set, and the results are superior.
Marvel Series 2 - Arch-Enemies: Silver Surfer vs Thanos

Card Number: 113

Marvel Series 3 - Super-Villains: Thanos
Date: 1992
Card Company: Impel
Card Number: 126

Card Number: 189
Artist: Ron Lim
Marvel Masterpieces Series 1 - Thanos
Date: 1992
Card Company: Skybox
Card Number: 83
Artist: Joe Jusko
About the Set: Every card in this set was painted by Joe Jusko. Its a superb set! Also, Marvel went to Skybox, rather than Impel, to produce this set.
Marvel Masterpieces Series 1 - Silver Surfer vs Thanos
Date: 1992
Card Company: Skybox
Card Number: 2-D
Artist: Joe Jusko
Marvel Series 4 - Super-Villains: Thanos
Date: 1993
Card Company: Skybox
Card Number: 16
Artist: Ron Lim
About the Set: A bit of step backwards in my opinion. The card seen here is part of a larger image formed by several other cards. Marvel remained with Skybox for this set, and Impel was out of the picture.
Marvel Series 4 - Alien Races: Titans
Date: 1993
Card Company: Skybox
Card Number: 120
Artist: Tom Morgan
Marvel Series 4 - Famous battles: Infinity War
Date: 1993

Marvel Cards "Universe" - Blood & Thunder: Thanos
Date: 1994
Card Company: Fleer
Card Number: 61
Artist: Tom Raney
About the Set: The year that Marvel jumped ship again, and went with Fleer. Much better than the previous year's set, these cards featured gold-foil embossed names and series stamps. Unfortunately, the market-bubble was about to burst.
Marvel Cards "Universe" - Super-Villains: Thanos
Date: 1994
Card Company: Fleer
Card Number: 157
Artist: Ron Lim
Marvel "Flair" Series 1 - Thanos "Thanos Attacks"
Date: 1994
Card Company: Fleer
Card Number: 31
Artist: Ron Lim
About the Set: Marvel hyped the heck out of this deluxe set. It boasted thicker cardstock, UV coating, gold foil, AND "digital coloring". The digital coloring seems to have been done by persons who were more interested in digital gimmicks than actual color composition. The results are uneven and disappointing.
Marvel "Flair" Series 1 - Thanos "Thanos Quest"
Date: 1994
Card Company: Fleer
Card Number: 69
Artist: Ron Lim
Marvel Masterpieces Series 3: Thanos
Date: 1994
Card Company: Fleer
Card Number: 122
Artist: Greg & Tim Hilderbrandt
About the Set: An absoluetely excellent set, which is easily one of Marvel's best, if not THE best.

1995 was a crazy, crazy year. Marvel was preparing to unleash a ton of different card-series. However, the comics-market was crashing and taking the card market with it, the MLB players were on-strike, the sports-card division of Fleer was looking at possible Bankruptcy, and things were looking pretty rough. By year's end, Fleer had purchased Skybox, leaving only 2 major card-companies that were making non-sports cards. As a result, the prices for the cards doubled and even tripled in some cases.

Marvel Masterpieces 4 - Thanos: Devries
Date: 1995
Card Company: Fleer
Card Number: 97
Artist: Dave Devries
About the Set: Once again, this set is composed of fully-painted art from various artists, some of which shouldn't have been allowed near an easel. This card is pretty good...
Marvel Masterpieces 4 - Thanos: Patelis
Date: 1995
Card Company: Fleer
Card Number: 98
Artist: Dimitrios Patelis
About the Set: ...as is this one.
Marvel Masterpieces 4 - Thanos: Scanlan
Date: 1995
Card Company: Fleer
Card Number: 99
Artist: Peter Scanlan
About the Set: However, this card is crap.
Marvel Masterpieces 4 - Holo Flash: Thanos
Date: 1995
Card Company: Fleer
Card Number: HF 7
Artist: Nelson DeCastro
About the Set: Holographic gimmickry was everywhere at this point, and it resulted in this subset.
Marvel Metal - Thanos
Date: 1995
Card Company: Fleer
Card Number: 19
Artist: David Boller/Jim Edwards
About the Set: A rather attractive set, with an embossed foil sheen.
Marvel Flair Annual - Thanos
Date: 1995
Card Company: Fleer
Card Number: 128
Artist: Ron Lim
About the Set: A rather big improvement over the first Flair set, the digital colorists put a bit more thought into their work this time around.
Marvel Flair Annual - Power Blast: Thanos
Date: 1995
Card Company: Fleer
Card Number: 21
Artist: Mark Johnston/Tractor
About the Set: The Power Blast subset all had embossed foil accents. This is one of the best Thanos cards around.
Marvel OverPower CCG - Mission Infinity Gauntlet: Thanos
Date: 1995
Card Company: Fleer
Card Number: 7 of 7
Artist: George Perez
About the Set: Marvel's first foray into the wolrd of Collectable Card-Games, OverPower enjoyed some success. Unfortunately, both the game itself AND the cards are horribly dated by today's standards.
Marvel versus DC - Thanos
Date: 1995
Card Company: Fleer/Skybox
Card Number: 39
Artist: Jimmy Palmiotti/Jung
About the Set: This set was based off of the huge Marvel vs DC event.
DC versus Marvel - Thanos/Darkseid
Date: 1995
Card Company: Fleer/Skybox
Card Number: 92
Artist: Ron Lim/Mark McKenna/Electric Crayon
About the Set: Part of the same set as the above, with the company names reversed, as was done on the comics themselves.
Amalgam Comics - Thanoseid
Date: 1996
Card Company: Fleer/Skybox
Card Number: 87
Artist: Gary Frank/Regie Milburn
About the Set: The result of the Marvel versus DC crossover event was "Amalgam Comics", where characters from the two companies were combined into one being. This is the tie-in card set.
Marvel Masterpieces 5 - Thanos
Date: 1996
Card Company: Fleer/Skybox
Card Number: 48
Artist: Boris
About the Set: This awesome set featured the art of renowned Fantasy artists, Boris Vallejo & Julie Bell.
Marvel OverPower CCG (Mission Control Expansion) - Mephisto & Thanos "Silver-Tongued Devil"
Date: 1996
Card Company: Fleer/Skybox
Card Number: N/A
Artist: (?)
About the Set: The second set of OverPower cards.

Marvel vs Wildstorm - Thanos vs Regent
Date: 1997
Card Company: Fleer/Skybox
Card Number: 19
Artist: Michael Ryan/Rob Stotz
About the Set: I'm not exactly sure why this set was produced, to be honest.
Marvel Premium QFX - Untold Tales: Thanos
Date: 1997
Card Company: Fleer/Skybox
Card Number: 44
Artist: Joe Quesada
About the Set: What do you get when you combine a card-set with the art of Joe Quesada, who is now the current head-honcho at marvel? You get the Infinity Gauntlet on the wrong hand. There's a lesson to be learned in there somewhere.
Marvel Legends - Thanos
Date: 2001
Card Company: Topps
Card Number: 68
Artist: Gus Vasquez/Phyllis Novin/McNabb Studios
About the Set: By 2001, Marvel had parted ways with Fleer/Skybox, and this set was produced by Topps instead. A really nice set, with a cool foil sheen "drop shadow" around the characters. As for Fleer/Skybox, they were purchased earlier this year by Upper Deck.
Marvel Factory Figure - Thanos
Date: 2005
Card Company: Toy-Biz
Card Number: 53
Artist: Jorge Santamaria
About the Set: These cards are pack-ins that come with the Toy-Biz Factory Figures, which are toys that you assemble.
Marvel VS System (HOG) - Thanos: Protector of the Reality Gem
Date: 2006
Card Company: Upper Deck
Card Number: MHG_176
Artist: Darick Robertson
About the Set: Thanos has finally arrived in the Marvel VS system, the popular and successful CCG from Upper Deck.
Marvel VS System (HOG) - Armageddon
Date: 2006
Card Company: Upper Deck
Card Number: MHG_196
Artist: JonBoy Meyers and Mark Irwin
About the Set: This card adds a +6 attack bonus to any of your attacking characters. Pretty sweet!
Marvel VS System (HOG) - Thanos: Alpha and Omega
Date: 2006
Card Company: Upper Deck
Card Number: MHG_208
Artist: JonBoy Meyers and Mark Irwin
About the Set: When you play this card, Thanos KO's half of each opponent's forces, rounded down. Ouch!
