The Hacker (Played by - Crystal) Read Heather's Online Journal. Heather grew up in the all-too-common "broken" household, born to parents who reached a point where they could not stand one another, and she eventually became the child of a divorce. Her parents loved her dearly, but they were both busy business-types, and thus they greatly overcompensated by showering her with material gifts to make up for missing time. Around the time of her 12th birthday, they came to realize that Heather had a real flair for computers and electronic gadgets of all types. So, they began to buy her all sorts of new, techno-hip gifts, always striving to hug the technology curve so that her equipment would never become obsolete before the next upgrade drew near, and making sure she had the newest, coolest PC games. Heather mastered the arts of overclocking her CPU's, coding in several electronic languages, finding "back-doors", writing program cracks, and adapting or creating rather harmless computer viruses. Heather, wary of getting into trouble, always made sure to keep any computer activities that bordered on illegality low-key and hush-hush so as not to endanger her flow of new gadgetry. Fortunately, her online hacker-contacts, always happy to have a girl in their midst, honored any guidelines she set to keep the chance of discovery to an absolute minimum. She flew through High-School with somewhat above-average grades in most classes, but always excelled at any electronic endeavors. When the colleges came calling, she was a natural for Computer-Science, and quickly earned her degree, while continuing to showcase her formidable skills in other areas when time permitted. Following her graduation, she quickly found a job as a technical support administrator for Marshall University. She likes her job...even on the days when the hours grow long.
Fortunately, that tall brunette showed up, and gave those vamps a real thrashing. That's when Heather realized that something else she'd heard mentioned wasn't the product of fevered imaginings. Not only were there Vampires, but also, it would seem, Vampire Slayers. And so, she ran, ducking into an empty classroom where she chopped a yardstick in half with a fire-axe. Then, she poked her head out, called to the Slayer, tossed her the now-pointy piece of wood, and the rest was history. Heather soon became an honest-to-gosh Scooby, and she ended up finding ways to help the gang with their adventures. She was instrumental in helping Twitch defeat the return of the Demon-Lord Moloch, and later assisted Twitch when his soul became trapped in the android-body he had constructed. A few months later, it was Heather who discovered how Beth had managed to bypass Twitch's security protocols and even managed to deduce the author of the virus she had used to do it. She was then able to use Guidi's code and notes for the virus to write a program to eradicate it. During the course of all of this, Heather received an offer to work as a high-level Administrative Sys-Op at Penn State's main campus at University Park, with opportnities to assist in research projects and a bonus offer to help further her education there if she so desired. Once the matter of the Order was resolved, Heather accepted the lucrative offer and left town a week after Xander and Lydia had left for Mexico. Though busy, Heather has made sure to keep in touch with both Xander and Natalie, and has occasionally managed to assist them at a distance on a number of occasions.
Despite her sometimes-distant parents, Heather has become a friendly young woman, who seems reasonably normal and well adjusted. That is until you get her near the newest gadget or the fastest new processor. Then she becomes the babbling tech-geek she's been for much of her life. When a new tech-chic toy his the mass-market, you can be assured she'd read up on it months beforehand. She lives for computers, DVD's, PDA's, game consoles, Tech-TV, and almost always tries to make it to the Consumer Electronics Show every year. Unfortunately, being so tech-savvy has a price, and in her case it has served to keep her isolated from a lot of real human interaction over the years. Fortunately, she's struck up real friendships with both Xander and Natalie, who have become quite adept at not only finding ways for Natalie to assist them with her skills, but also to keep her social in the process.
